Sealing cracks is the most cost-effective way to prevent future asphalt deterioration
and asphalt expenses. Small cracks of ¼” or less can be effectively
sealed using a pourable sealant. Cracks can be blown out or routed and filled
with this material. The result is a crack that is impervious to the water
that could easily deteriorate the sub-base of the pavement and compromise
its integrity if it is allowed to freely flow downward.
Crack sealing, if done properly, can be an effective preventive measure
for maintaining asphalt. A professionally applied sealant should provide
an excellent service life with no debonding. A professional application
will go a long way toward ensuring good performance.
